Jungle Jims produce section

Jungle Jims produce section

We had a chance to take a little trip this morning up to one of our favorite places, Jungle Jim’s.  Our good friends Shannon & Joe said they could meet us there (they are fellow foodies too), so Sarah, E & I hopped in the car and headed north.

Every time I go to Jungle Jim’s just outside Cincinnati,  I am constantly amazed at the variety of goods there… it is literally one-stop-shopping for anything even remotely culinary. The cheeses, meats, bakery items, international foods, produce, beer & wine — the list goes on. I’ve always said that if you can’t find it at Jungle Jim’s, you can’t find it ANYWHERE.

One thing I was shocked at today when visiting — they do not have fresh edamame. Granted, they do have it frozen like many of the other grocery stores around here, but I would have thought that a place that can serve you 12 different kinds of bok choy would at least have something as widespread as edamame. I mean, seriously…

Anyone know a good Asian market in Cincy?

Sarah is contagious…

No, she’s not sick…

She’s been working on new blogs and updating themes and whatnot, so I decided to do the same. Very nice, I must say! Now I need to figure out how to use this thing. Soon, I will RULE THE WORRRRLLLLLDDD MWUAHAHAHAHAHAHHHH!

Life is pretty darn good

There are a lot of things that have been going on, and since it’s been so long since I’ve blogged, I’m sure to NOT mention them all. It’s actually a bit daunting. So, rather than give long, blow by blow descriptions, I’m gonna put together a Top 10 list. If you want to know more about anything on here, please comment, IM, or Private Message me. If I get enough requests, I might just answer them.

Top 10 (or 12) things to Update You On
(in no particular order)
1.  Sarah and I got to spend a great Valentine’s Day weekend in Chicago – minus the kiddo.
2.  I became an uncle 2x over the past few months! Welcome Elijah and Tyler James!
3.  I got a chance to perform with Grammy-nominated songwriter/performer Sarah Kelly. WAY cool.
4.  We’re in a small group at church with some of our best friends since we’ve moved here — it’s gonna be great getting to know them all better OUTSIDE of Sunday mornings.
5.  My Dad is gonna be semi-retired as of tomorrow! What’s he gonna do with all that extra time?
6.  I’m getting the songwriting “itch” again and am trying to figure out a plan of attack…
7.  Sarah and I are getting a nice tax return, which should help us pay off all the little bills, etc that have been adding up over the past few months. Hooray! Dave Ramsey rocks and has really affected our choices… we feel so much more in control of finances than we did a year ago.
8.  Sarah’s been going to PT for her back — so far, it’s improved a little bit, but she’s got a way to go.
9.  I just started on a thyroid medication and have been taking it for a week now — maybe there IS a reason why I gain weight so easily!
10.  Sarah and I are going to see Billy Joel and Elton John on March 10!
11.  We started putting together a website for doing weddings, piano lessons, etc. I’ll have to post a link as soon as it’s ready… but the “short of it” is that we’re trying hard to find some ways to earn some extra money to get ahead of the curve financially.
12. I am PSYCHED that baseball season is almost here again. I vow to actually get to a game this year!
That’s it for now. Discuss amongst yourselves…

The week that wasn’t

I’ve been working on so many OTHER things this week that the thing I was supposed to be mainly focused on (the rollout of out new monthly revenue and analytics reporting snapshots) has taken pretty much of a backseat. Not happy about that… but not much I could do. Hopefully I can bang out a lot of it tomorrow.
Sarah has been working to gather information and take the initial steps towards offering piano lessons… we figured it would be a fairly easy way to make a little extra money and start climbing out of the debt hole that we’re in. Fortunately, it hasn’t been getting larger… and for that I’m thankful.
We also actually have two weddings lined up to play for, and the potential of a third one. Very cool. I like being able to contribute to someone’s “special day” with a talent that actually comes very easily (for both of us). I’d love to be able to do it once a month… but of course that would depend on the scheduling.
Ethan continues to amaze me. He’s reading words backwards and even inside out now (no joke), filling in missing letters from words, deciphering patterns and reading at a 1st grade level. It’s ridiculous. I’ve even had some fun with him and taught him the name for a shape with 9 sides. Do you know what it is? Maybe he can tell you…
